Kat Basquill Yoga

Yoga. Bodywork. Retreats.

I came to yoga as a teenager in a church hall.  I didn't get it.
I came back to yoga after struggling with eating disorders in my early 20s, and glowed.

Yoga's been a deeply healing path for me, and supported my ED recovery, as well as anxiety and depression.
One of my biggest passions in life is to share this healing - whether that's through joy, relaxation, play or through something physically deeper. I've been teaching since 2015, and am trained in Vinyasa, Yin, Mandala and Forrest. After becoming more and more curious about bodies and their link to the mind, I trained as a Bodyworker.

My aim in class is for each student to connect to themselves & what they honestly need from their practice, in a way that empowers and soothes. To reclaim your feeling of choice, and observe deeply how your body and mind react to movement.

You can find me darting around London between studios, boxing rings & climbing walls, as well as playing handpan & mixing music. I am a tarot reader, writer & ice cream enthusiast.

Villa Mandala
Aourir, Morocco
9th-16th July 2022

I’m SO excited to be running a retreat on the beautiful Moroccan coast next July. Join me for a week of yoga, surf, hikes & beaching. And loafing, lots of loafing. HARD loafing.

After the uncertainty & grief of the last two years, I’ve got quite a precise feeling about what I’d like to offer & create. I will be offering time to explore a lot of the tools I use to keep myself balanced and peaceful, including breathwork, Nidra, myofascial release, cacao & meditation. Along with creative vinyasa flows, with space to explore & rest.

Check out the venue here!

Prices begin at £650pp, and include:
A 90 minute vinyasa class each morning, woven with intention & medicine
Some kind of Soother Class each evening, whether this is a yin class, a starlit cacao circle on the beach, transformational breathwork, myofacial release, or Yoga Nidra.
A day of surf lessons (the ocean in July is great for beginners!)
A trip to Paradise Valley to hike & swim in the freshwater lagoon
A trip to the local market
3 delicious Vegetarian meals a day, made from local seasonal produce. Plus teas, coffee, fruits & baked treats. One night we will dine out together at a local BBQ restaurant.
Airport transfers to/from Agadir Airport.

There’s a whole lot of wonder I’ve been cultivating and am so eager to share.

Rooms
Villa Mandala can host up to 18 people. We have seven twin/double rooms and one four bed ‘dorm’ style room. Each is spacious and comfortable, and decorated in unique Moroccan décor.
Beds in the dorm are £650pp. If you book as a group I can offer a small 5% discount.
Spaces in the twin/double rooms are £850 for single occupancy, or £1400 for double.
I am very happy to offer custom payment plans, and potentially discounts to folks who may wish. Send a £300 deposit to secure your room (you can choose on a first come first serve basis), & we can work from there.

Yoga
The shala is fully equipped with mats, bolsters and bricks, and overlooks the ocean. I will teach a 90 minute Vinyasa flow each morning. This will be open for all levels, and threaded with intention and empowerment. If you let me know something you'd like to work with, I'll make sure we explore it. It's important to me that my classes are accessible to different bodies.
The evenings will be a little varied between different Soother Classes, depending on the day.

Sample day
Early - Eat some snacks, pour some coffee, self meditation
8:30-10 – Vinyasa Flow class
10:30 - Brunch
Free time – explore, loaf on the beach, hang out by the pool, nap, day drink, make friends with the cats, stroll around the market and taste the local fruits
5pm – Yoga. Timings may change a little depending on the class.
7pm - Dinner

On days with excursions planned, all the timings will look a little different.

I take on a lot of cover around SE London and central, and try to keep my schedule updated on my Instagram. You can find me at @Katbasq

I have taught for events with Stylist Magazine, We Do Yoga Festival, All Points East Festival & Adidas.  If you would like to work with me either for an event, corporate class or 1-2-1, please send me an email.
After working with some massage assists through Forrest Yoga, I became more curious about bodies & the healing touch.  In 2019 I became a Bodyworker with Alchemy of Touch.  Since then I have completed Deep Tissue trainings, and worked with Sound Therapy tools including tuning forks & singing bowls.

Bodywork encompasses a collection of techniques for restoring health and balance to the entire person by working through the body. It is beneficial if you are looking to address specific issues, such as pain, posture, or low energy.

I use a soft but deep approach of intuitive methods. These include a mixture of deep tissue strokes, myofascial release, Thai yoga massage, joint mobilisation, and the unique stroke; the soothing 'fluid touch', which mimics the flow of energy in the body. The focus in each bodywork session is to soothe and rebalance without jarring the nervous system.

Please let me know if you wish to request certain areas to focus on. Otherwise, this is a full-body massage with emphasis on the areas that need more care - whether physically tight or energetically stuck.

I currently give Bodywork at Breeze Yoga in Beckenham, Saturdays, 13:30-18:30.
